A passion for volunteering

I discovered Shared Adventures through their "Day on the Beach" event in 2018 and have volunteered for most ever since. "Day on the Beach" is such a joyous occasion, bringing people together to make our city’s greatest attraction—the beach—accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

I love to bring my friends along to volunteer. It feels more meaningful to share these experiences with them rather than just meeting up for lunch.

I try to volunteer whenever I can for weekly activities like Science Club at the Santa Cruz Children's Museum of Discovery or Garden Club at Common Roots Farm or larger special events that Shared Adventures promotes like Day in the Park, Skateboard Day, Night to Shine, and MBHTC Spring Faire.

My passion for volunteering stems from my career in senior living where I serve elderly people and individuals with disabilities. My passion in life is bringing meaningful engagement to the lives of individuals and especially those with special needs.

Volunteering with Shared Adventures offers a wonderful break from my home office, allowing me to connect with my community in Santa Cruz County. I thrive on creating meaningful experiences, building relationships, and continuously learning new skills.

I’m always eager to share the incredible impact that Shared Adventures has on our community and encourage others to get involved. There are countless ways to participate, and it’s easy to get started—just check out their website, sign up for their email updates, and come see for yourself.

I value the flexibility and appreciation that Shared Adventures extends to its volunteers. The community is incredibly welcoming, and I feel that the experience is just as rewarding for me as it is for those we serve. Volunteering with Shared Adventures truly fills my bucket.
