Shared Adventures announces that Brenda Gutierrez Baeza has joined the board of the Santa Cruz non-profit that works with the county’s disabled community. Gutierrez Baeza brings her experience and passion to help with Shared Adventures community involvement and outreach. Brenda joined the Santa Cruz County Commission on Disabilities in 2016 and has been involved with many projects. In 2015, she became a member of the Santa Cruz Playground Project to help the efforts of creating LEOs Haven, the first inclusive playground in Santa Cruz County.
Guiterrez said, “I am thrilled to be asked to join the board of Shared Adventures. They are an important organization that has been doing great work in the community for over 25 years. I am excited to help them make a meaningful impact for those with disabilities.”
She started working with County Park Friends as a mobilization leader for the disabled community and has been a resource for the underserved populations during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Foster Andersen, founder of Shared Adventures said, “Brenda is a great addition to Shared Adventures Board of Directors. She has a lot of experience advocating for disability rights and is currently working on projects that bring more awareness about accessibility in Santa Cruz County that are being implemented today!”
She has also participated to help create a video series that showcases the accessibility of the Santa Cruz County parks.
As well as advocating for disability inclusion, Brenda also strives to break down language barriers in her Latino community by working as a Healthcare Interpreter and translating important information to Spanish-only speakers.
